Bestsellers vs. Best tellers
The majority of creations (paintings, writings, songs, et cetera.) are crap.
The obvious reason is that such creations were created by second-rate creators; while the overlooked casue is that that was what the created for demanded.
Regardless of how bad, or morally wrong, a thing or a deed is; where there is a demand, a
supply will forever be (think smoking, drugs, and, prostitution.)
The Sturgeon’s Law states that ninety percent of everything is crud.
Be that as it may, there is hope, for the power to put an end to the creation of second-rate creations lies in the wallets of the created for.
It will only be when the created for starts patronizing, or better still, demanding first-rate creations; that the creators of second-rate creations will be forced to either create first-rate creations, or to stop creating at all.
But, there is a hurdle to jump. A stumbling block to conquer. Hurdle?
The majority is
average. Average in terms of taste, intellect, standards, and inevitably, expectations.
(As a result, artists who challenge the status quo starve. While those who worship convention have bank balances with too many “oh’s.” Yet, their art wowed no one.)
