Homosexuals Too Have Armpits

When I see a gay person; I see a brother, or a sister. But truth be told, at times, some are so dramatic that one can’t help but see both.

Even though I’m of the sexual orientation that the Bible endorses in the Book of Genesis, I love and respect every single member of the human race; whether they’re turned on by a bra, or, by a bro.

The molestation of consumers

Instead of a marketer selling the idea that a deodorant will eliminate body odour and lessen the production of sweat, he subtly sells something that people would trade their souls to have — sex appeal.

Is it right for marketers to exploit people’s desire to be sexually appealing?

C’mon, it’s marketers we’re talking about. The very same people who are notorious for making tap water taste and appear uncool. All in the name of bottled water.

When I was a kid I think we had one brand (and type) of moisturizer that we shared as a family. But these days there are this-and-that for men. It could be that men and women’s skin really demand different things from a lotion, or that marketers have succeeded in fooling us, again.

Back to marketing and sexual orientation

If marketers are to effectively exploit human desire for sex appeal, shouldn’t there be ads where a man sprays this-and-that from brand so-and-so, goes “somewhere,” and then leave other men drooling over him?

(The same could obviously be done when selling to lesbians.)

Is it because brands don’t want to risk having the stigma that some heterosexuals, arguably the majority, have attached to homosexuality? Will such ads make brands and/or their products “homo” or at least mark them with such a “dirty” name?

How effective is an ad that shows a man using a deodorant which ultimately leads to women finding him impossible to resist, to a man that is attracted to other men?

Is the population of homosexuals too minuscule to justify a marketer’s consideration?

(I don’t know about you, but I have never seen a penniless gay — ching, ching.)

Acknowledging homosexuals in our marketing efforts has an enormous power to educate our ignorant fellow brothers and sisters who are busy killing their own brothers and sisters for having a different sexual preference to theirs.

That there is a social entrepreneur’s dream come true; build wealth for self and the generation to follow, while making a positive contribution to humanity.

(Again, I await a maverick brand with sufficient supply of guts.)
