The Medium and the Small-Minded
Small-minded producers are largely fooled by their medium.
A prostitute sells orgasms, not her lips and hips.
A restaurateur sells food, not plates and cutlery.
A school sells education, not textbooks and homework.
A book publisher sells writings, not ink and paper.
A record label sells music, not round plastics with round holes.
As convention gets tattooed in the minds of producers, they forget what it is that they’re actually selling. As a result, we now have record companies who use the time that they could be making more music with, to defend Compact Discs.
(Book publishers who could be publishing more writings are busy defending paper.)
